Tiburon and Belvedere houses are built out of materials that punish a generic cleaning method. Marble and limestone entries, honed stone counters, wool broadloom, silk and linen upholstery — every one of them needs the process matched to the material, and every one of them is expensive to get wrong.
That is most of why our work here skews toward restoration rather than routine cleaning. Etched marble countertops, a dull limestone entry, a water-marked stone bath: those are mechanical problems, not dirt problems, and no amount of stronger cleaner fixes them. We restore the finish, then seal it.
The peninsula setting adds salt air on the outside and a great deal of sun through the picture windows on the inside. Both accelerate wear on stone finishes and fabric. Homes here that get on a two-year cleaning and sealing schedule hold their finishes noticeably better than homes that wait until something looks wrong.
Local conditions
Etching from wine, citrus, and cleaning products is a chemical reaction with the stone, not a stain sitting on it. We restore etched countertops and entries back to a uniform finish, then seal — and we tell you before we start what is realistically achievable.
Fiber identification and dye-stability testing come first, every time. Wool and silk are cleaned with pH and moisture matched to the fiber, on location, so nothing valuable leaves your house.
Waterfront exposure is hard on sealers and finishes, and southern light is hard on fabric. Regular cleaning and resealing is the cheapest form of protection for both.
